Oli van Overbeek began his diving journey in 1998, training initially with CMAS and later BSAC. After over 15 years of hands-on diving experience, he became a PADI Instructor and soon after qualified as a DSAT (PADI Technical) Instructor. Motivated by a commitment to ongoing development, Oli joined RAID at its inception and was mentored by renowned technical diving pioneer Paul Toomer. Oli quickly became a key figure within RAID, becoming one of the first five RAID Instructor Trainers globally and one of the first RAID Examiners in the UK. He went on to play an instrumental role in the agency’s growth, actively contributing to course development, standards writing, and materials editing over a span of nearly 10 years. From 2019 to 2023, he served as RAID Training Director for the UK & Malta, helping shape training quality and instructor development across the region. In 2023, Oli crossed over to TDI and now holds Instructor Trainer and Examiner ratings with SDI/TDI, in addition to maintaining his RAID Instructor Trainer status across all open-circuit technical levels and several rebreathers. Today, Oli focuses on delivering modern, realistic, and skill-oriented diver and instructor training.
